Rokr 3d Wooden Puzzles is very nice product. I got the Starry Night, since I am interested in astronomy. I’d had this in my wish list for a while, so when it discounted on Prime Day, I decided to try it. It’s supposed to look and work like a little orrery when done, with planets revolving around the sun. This took me two evenings to complete, and I have to say, I’m pretty impressed with this music box project. Instructions are incredibly well-written for a kit of this type, diagrams are accurate, and if you follow the instructions step-by-step, and pay attention to the diagrams, you won’t go wrong assembling this.

They even stop you at one point and remind you to check assembly because this is a point that afterward mistakes are difficult to disassemble and fix. The wooden parts punch out easily, they are well-identified, and there are even extras of pieces that are especially prone to breakage. I had to use a couple of the extra parts, so I appreciated this. They even include clever tools for measuring so that all the gears will be at the right spot to mesh together properly in the finished project. Literally everything you need is included, so you don’t have to supply anything from home.

Everything fits together tightly, so much so that you have to work some parts together a bit before they will mesh. This is great, because there isn’t any glue required, and it’s still pretty solid in spite of not having been glued. The gears work well, but you have to wind the music box up all the way to get it started. When it’s working and the planets are revolving around, it really looks very cute. The laser cut wood color is actually very attractive on its own, and it doesn’t require any additional painting for it to look nice.

The only thing I didn’t especially love about this music box is the choice of song… this particular one would have been better with a space/moon-oriented song… I am still puzzled by the choice of “Memories” from Cats. Not a bad song, just not appropriate in this context.

Conclusion? I’d totally buy another kit from this company. It’s a high-quality product for what I paid, and I’m very pleased with the ease of assembly and quality of parts. This would make a delightful gift for a crafty person who likes making things with their hands.
