Best Ice Cream Maker is very nice product. I was looking for an old fashioned crank ice cream maker. It’s like finding a needle in a haystack! They were not cheap either. I wasn’t sure I could believe what I saw…electric and manual? Yes it comes with both. We were having a picnic and my desire was to have the kids crank the bucket like we did when we were kids. I made the custard, from a recipe in the instruction book.
IT WAS FIRE! I layered the ice with salt in the bucket and had the kids churn it. It was done lickety split! Seems like it took us hours in our day. You’d get don’t with your turn and have a Popeye arm! Anyway… the ice cream was smooth and good. I decided to make some for my co-workers. Same rich recipe and this time I used the electric motor. I was surprised as to how quiet it was. Took about 40 minutes and once again, it didn’t disappoint.
Make sure you keep your liquid cool before freezing. You can place the freezing canister in the freezer or fridge to make sure it’s cold when you start. I layered the ice and salt instead of just sprinkling on top. I think that helped it to freeze quicker.
