Bell Rogue Motorcycle Helmets is very nice product. Been using this now for most of the riding season and it is the most-comfortable half helmet I’ve owned.

I have a Charlie-Brown head so trying on helmets is a shopping adventure that ends up with me finding out that the only thing that works is a lousy 3X/4X helmet that doesn’t really fit: “Cranial parasailing.”

Nothing seems to fit as well as my Arai full face so I wouldn’t have normally bought a helmet online but after watching a video review on another (uh) ***zilla site, I felt comfortable enough with the speed dial mechanism and I bought it.I have a Charlie-Brown head so trying on helmets is a shopping adventure that ends up with me finding out that the only thing that works is a lousy 3X/4X helmet that doesn’t really fit: “Cranial parasailing.” Nothing seems to fit as well as my Arai full face so I wouldn’t have normally bought a helmet online but after watching a video review on another (uh) ***zilla site, I felt comfortable enough with the speed dial mechanism and I bought it.

Noise and buffeting: The sizing strap locks on your occipital lobe and make the helmet feel more secure than it is. I find myself riding around sometimes looking like a hockey player with a loose chin strap. Even at possibly excessive speeds (with a loose chin strap) there is no pull or buffeting. To be fair, the instructions, clearly state that the chin strap needs to be tight. Noise is less than other half helmets I’ve used though there is bit of a whistle through a seam in the visor. There is a lack venting but you won’t notice it; the carrier system seems to allow free air movement which also probably helps reduce noise.

Optics and face shield: The face shield is, well…OK. The optics are good, but not crystal like my Arai with a bit of extra distortion at the edges. For me, the shield fits close to my face which means that I can’t flip it down if I’m wearing other specs. When down, there is a weird back pressure inside the shield that really dries out my eyes and blows downwards on my eyelids. However, when it’s raining, the tight fit and weird back pressure really keep the water and mist out.

Look and finish: My thinking was that I’d spend a couple of extra bucks and get the carbon so there’d be a pattern on the helmet making it so a few nicks and scratches wouldn’t show as much over time. That thinking was wrong; don’t get the carbon for that reason. Scratches show just as easily on this as they would on anything else plus, the matte finish really accents anything oily. I have a few helmet stickers now (yeah, the owner’s manual said not to do that).
